Technology
Dyna-Sys technology and Chrome/Nickel coating: relatively light and durableThe HG 81 SLX cassette uses Dyna-Sys technology. This means the teeth are closer together, so less force is needed to shift gears. This Dyna-Sys cassette is made up of a lightweight aluminium spider with three sprockets, for a large surface area and high durability. The remaining cassette sprockets are made of steel, coated with a chrome/nickel coating. This benefits durability and wear resistance.
HyperGlyde: a refined tooth profile
The cogs on the SLX HG81 10 speed cassette feature HyperGlyde technology, which means you'll be shifting nice and quiet with this cassette. This cassette also works perfectly with Shadow rear derailleurs.

Assembly
Mounting with special toolsTo assemble and disassemble this cassette you will need specific cassette tools. These can be found here. For further explanation and a detailed instruction on how to use these tools, we refer you to our blog about changing a cassette. See this blog.
Don't forget the assembly grease!
The lockring on your cassette should be tightened up, in most cases up to 40Nm. To be able to loosen the cassette, we recommend you to apply a little bit of assembly paste to the lockring. Our assembly greases can be found here.
User tips
How often should I clean my bike? Regular cleaning ensures that your material lasts longer and that you can enjoy your cycling for longer. How often you need to clean depends on the weather conditions in which you ride. Do you cycle through all kinds of weather, or do you only go out when the sun is shining? It all affects the degree of wear and tear and some people will have to clean their bikes more often than others. Use the schedule below as a guide:October to March:
• Clean every 200 km
• Rinse after every ride
• Dry and oil the chain after every ride
• Leave the bike to dry at room temperature
April to September:
• Clean every 300 km
• Rinse off after cycling in the rain
• Dry and oil the chain after polishing or rinsing
• Leave the bike to dry at room temperature

The best of 2 cassette
For my randonneur I was looking for another steel cassette. This one is half to half ... but the somewhat larger aluminium sprockets are not often used so it is no problem that they are of somewhat softer aluminium

Cassette with 10 sprockets of different sizes
Does what it is supposed to do. Depending on the force put on the pedals, the bike chain will drive the cassette harder or softer so that the rear wheel spins faster or slower. Thanks to the 10 sprockets, each with a different number of teeth, it is possible to dose the rotation frequency of the rear wheel. The nice round symmetrical shape of this cassette makes it fit my rear wheel perfectly! I am very satisfied with this cassette!
